This directory lists 459 public fishing piers and shore fishing sites across 74 Minnesota counties from DNR records. Pick your county to find a starting point for fishing without a boat.

A boat ramp is not a fishing spot, so this list leaves them out. What is here is what the DNR types as a fishing pier, a shore fishing site, a bank fishing site, or a breakwater: somewhere a person on foot can stand and cast.

What this list is not

This is the DNR's list of publicly maintained fishing sites, retrieved 2026-09-09. Plenty of good bank is not on it: road crossings, parks, and any shoreline you have permission to stand on. Use it as a place to start when you do not know the water, not as the boundary of where you are allowed to fish.
